There once was a couple who lived in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century. Conrad and Mariana had been married for eight years, and always had a great relationship.
Mariana was a pretty girl: she was blonde, had bright eyes and the delicacy of a ballerina. Conrad was a tall, bearded man. He was successful. He looked rough and always wore a hat that never took off. Mariana had always served as a great wife to Conrad, and he always treated well her.
One day the two of them were having dinner at their mansion and Mariana decided to make a comment about Conrad. She said that Conrad’s hat was inappropriate for a successful man. Conrad got offended because Mariana had never complained about anything, and he loved that hat, and the twoargued offensively. Conrad, very nervous, withdrew from the table.
Mariana sadly decided to live with her friend, who took her to know the dark side of society, where betrayals and lies were normal. Her friend tried to influence her, criticizing her husband and introducing her to other men. Mariana got angry because she was not used to it, then she went back home, and her husband was there, holding a bouquet of flowers and a new hat for her.
